You’re Invited: Beyond Talk to Action
Dear Friends,
The struggle for a just peace in Palestine/Israel has never been more dynamic nor have the stakes been higher. EPF/PIN is a grassroots organizing effort to create a more robust Episcopal contribution to that struggle.
Please join us for our first annual membership conference, beginning with dinner on Sunday October 16 and continuing through lunch on Tuesday October 18 at Chicago’s Cenacle Retreat and Conference Center. We promise an agenda that will help move us Beyond Talk to Action, including:
- An overview of the current Palestinian situation with an analysis by the Rev. Naim Ateek, Sabeel’s Founder and Director;
- A review of the Episcopal Church’s history and involvement in Palestine;
- An introduction to the new Episcopal edition of the curriculum Steadfast Hope;
- Groups and panels on Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, General Convention resolutions, organizing witness trips;
- Actions going forward: teaching Steadfast Hope, building support in congregations and dioceses, collaborating with other denominations and interfaith groups, expanding PIN, organizing for General Convention 2012, building involvement in the BDS movement, promoting witness trips.
Registration is online at EPF/PIN. A single room plus all meals is $230, a double (per person) is $190, and a commuter is $110. Scholarship assistance is available for any for whom this expense is a stretch. Registration deadline is September 18th.
We hope to see you in Chicago!
