The EPF PJN is an autonomous network operating outside the structure and authority of The Episcopal Church. Our mission is
To establish a network of Episcopalians committed to a faithful witness for Palestinian human rights, dignity, and self-determination; advocacy for justice and peace in the Holy Land; and support for entities striving to preserve hope, well-being, and cultural heritage for Palestinians.
Our mission responds to
- The promise made in our baptismal covenant to “… strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being”;
- The call in 2005 by Palestinian Civil Society for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions until Israel complies with international law and universal principles of human rights, a call supported by the Episcopal Peace Fellowship; and
The prayerful calls of Palestinian Christians expressed in the 2009 Kairos Palestine Document and the 2020 Kairos Palestine Call to Decisive Action.
PIN invites all Episcopalians to commit to active engagement in the quest for just peace in Palestine and Israel through PRAYER, STUDY, and ACTION.
We encourage prayer undertaken individually, in community with parish and/or other local organizations and initiatives pursuing common goals, and in response to petitions or requests such as the Sabeel Wave of Prayer and Kairos USA.
We encourage study and education through
We encourage action in
- supporting the Palestinian people and their resistance to injustice
- supporting the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, its congregations and institutions;
- supporting BDS and its calls for
- Ending the occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall
- Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and
- Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.
- supporting the non-violent resistance of the Palestinian people to the unjust practices of the Israeli government; and
- encouraging partnerships with other organizations, groups, and initiatives that seek just peace through non-violent means.
